The work focuses on ultrasound equipment and related medical technology, sold to hospitals, radiology practices, medical specialists and other healthcare customers. Success in the role depends on building trust, understanding customer needs and following a sale through from first engagement to close.
Role details/duties
The sales engineer will identify and develop new business in healthcare and medical imaging, and promote and sell ultrasound equipment and related medical technology. Duties include building and maintaining relationships with hospitals, radiology practices, medical specialists and other customers, giving product demonstrations, preparing quotations, following up leads and managing sales from engagement through to close. The role also involves developing a sales pipeline, keeping up with market trends and customer needs, providing product training, after-sales support and customer service where required, working toward sales targets, and travelling to customer sites when required.
Requirements
- A relevant qualification in Sales, Business Development, Engineering, Medical Technology or a related field
- Previous sales or business development experience, which is essential
- Experience in medical devices, ultrasound equipment, diagnostic imaging or healthcare technology, which is advantageous
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship-management skills
- Ability to explain technical products to clinical and non-clinical customers
- A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
- Computer skills for leads, quotations and customer records
