Boavida, an organic farm in Broederstroom in the Cradle of Humankind, is looking for a reliable, organised and practical live-in housekeeper and cook. This is a full-time, hands-on role combining housekeeping, coordinating household staff and preparing wholesome, nutritious meals.
The role is on a working organic farm in Broederstroom, advertised on Gumtree South Africa by Matthew for Boavida. The successful candidate will help run a welcoming, well-organised home and cook healthy meals for the family, fellow staff members and clients, following a farm-to-fork approach with seasonal ingredients predominantly supplied by the farm itself. Your responsibilities will include taking care of daily housekeeping and coordinating cleaning, laundry and household routines with other staff, planning and preparing healthy meals for family, fellow staff members and clients, following a farm-to-fork approach using seasonal ingredients predominantly supplied by the organic farm, preparing both vegetarian and meat-based meals with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and good nutrition, coordinating the preparation and cooking of healthy meals for the farm’s dogs following provided recipes, feeding plans and hygiene procedures, and managing kitchen supplies, food storage and stock rotation to minimise waste.
Formal hospitality qualifications are welcome, but practical experience, a willingness to learn and a genuine passion for the work matter most. Knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, juicing and smoothies, keto-based meals, preserving seasonal vegetables for use throughout the year, and preparing and serving good coffee and teas would be welcomed.
