As a Health Merchandiser, your work sits at the heart of the store: making sure Dis-Chem’s basic merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained, and giving customers outstanding service while you do it. This is a permanent role in the FMCG and general retail sectors, based at the Ballito Junction store.
Role details and duties
You will restock merchandise as the business requires, and make sure delivered stock and stock pulled from the store room is stored and packed in the correct space. You will keep the full range of products on the shelves at all times, rotate stock regularly on a first-in, first-out basis, and assist with general stocktaking. You will keep front-shop shelves and products neatly presented and visible at all times, with correct labelling, and build, face up, stock and maintain merchandising displays. You will look after the daily physical upkeep of the store and your designated displays, assist with back shopping, and make sure every customer stock query is dealt with and resolved.
Requirements
Applicants need a Grade 12 / Matric, up to 6 months’ retail experience, computer literacy in MS Office, and the willingness and ability to work retail hours. A diploma or degree within the health focus category and at least 1 year of retail experience would be advantageous. The advert also asks for a strong command of English, a presentable appearance, effective engagement with customers, management and staff, trustworthiness and honesty, and good time management. Bilingual ability, knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry, product and category knowledge, the ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking, and familiarity with SAP and Unisolv would be an advantage. Special conditions of employment include being willing and able to work retail hours, being able and physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes while following health and safety standards, having reliable transport or living close to the store, being a South African citizen, and having clear credit and criminal records.
