Financial charts and analysis on a laptop

Empact Group is looking for a Financial Manager based in Sandton. This is a permanent role for a hands-on finance leader who can act as a trusted business partner to the Group’s General Managers, Operations teams and Functional Heads, turning financial insight into better operational decisions. Applications close on 19 November 2026.

About the company and the work

Empact Group is a South African services group working across catering, food services, facilities management and related operational environments. Finance plays a central role in how the business is run: every contract, unit and region needs accurate reporting, disciplined cost control and clear commercial insight. In this role, you will sit close to operations, helping leaders understand profitability, manage costs and improve performance, rather than working at a distance from the business.

Role details and duties

In financial reporting and performance management, you will oversee monthly financial reviews to make sure revenue and costs are accurately reported and aligned with expectations, analyse financial results, gross profit margins and unit and regional profitability to identify trends and risks, and prepare and review management reports, journals and balance sheet reconciliations in line with accounting standards. You will provide accurate, timely financial information and practical insights to support operational decisions, and develop and monitor turnaround plans for underperforming units, cost pressures and budget shortfalls.

For financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, you will lead and coordinate budgeting, forecasting and financial planning across your areas of responsibility, build financial models and forecasts to support business planning and strategic objectives, monitor actual performance against budget and forecast, flag risks and variances, and recommend corrective action. You will also support capital expenditure planning and resource allocation through financial analysis and investment appraisal, and work with operational leadership to implement and track initiatives that improve financial performance.

On the commercial side, you will make sure all active contracts are accurately billed and billing discrepancies are resolved promptly, monitor cash flow, working capital and liquidity, and drive credit control and debt collection to meet debtor-day targets and reduce overdue balances. You will work closely with Operations to manage customer credit exposure, payment terms and contract profitability, build constructive customer relationships, and make sure financial queries are resolved professionally and quickly.

In controls, compliance and risk, you will oversee fixed asset registers, capital expenditure transactions, stock transfers and related reconciliations, review purchases for budget compliance, proper authorisation and accurate ledger and cost coding, identify financial and operational risks and put appropriate controls in place, and ensure compliance with financial policies, legal requirements and regulatory standards. You will also coordinate and resolve audit queries within required timeframes.

As a business partner, you will advise General Managers, Operations, Sales, Procurement and Functional Heads on new customers, contracts, commercial terms and profitability, present financial information in a clear and practical way, and build collaborative relationships that encourage continuous improvement. You will also lead and develop the billing, accounts receivable and financial administration teams, coach them in accounting processes, SAP and financial reporting, promote teamwork, accountability and service excellence, and look for ways to improve systems, reporting and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

According to the advert, applicants need a bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or a related field, or more than 12 years of relevant and demonstrable experience. You will also need a minimum of 4 years’ experience in financial management, preferably within the catering, food services, hospitality or a related industry, strong knowledge of financial reporting, IFRS, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and management reporting, and demonstrated experience in financial planning, cost control, profitability analysis, cash flow management and related areas. A proven ability to partner with senior operational stakeholders and provide commercial financial insight is required, as is experience in financial controls, reconciliations, audit processes and financial risk management, plus strong analytical, communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications and experience that would be advantageous include a CA(SA) or CIMA qualification, experience in a multi-site, contract catering, food services, facilities management or other operational environment, experience with SAP or a comparable financial management system, and previous experience managing and developing finance teams. The advert also looks for strong commercial acumen, advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, strong planning and organisational ability, high attention to detail, accuracy and financial integrity, the ability to influence stakeholders and challenge performance constructively, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.

Where to find and apply safely

This post is an informational summary only. Always apply through the original Careers24 advert for this vacancy, using the Apply button on this page, which links directly to that advert. Do not pay anyone for a job application, and be wary of anyone asking for money, banking details or identity documents before you have been through a proper recruitment process. Check the closing date of 19 November 2026, reference number 209841, and the full requirements in the original advert before you apply.

Practical tips

Before you apply, prepare a CV that shows the scale of the operations you have supported, such as the number of units or sites, contract values, and improvements in margins, debtor days or reporting accuracy. Be ready with examples of a turnaround plan you built, a budgeting cycle you led, or a billing or cash flow problem you resolved with operations. If you are invited for an interview, show how you explain financial results in plain language to non-financial managers, and how you balance control with commercial support.

How the process works

Applications are made through the original Careers24 advert. The employer reviews applications, shortlists candidates, and contacts those selected for the next steps, which may include interviews and assessments. Only shortlisted candidates are normally contacted, so if you do not hear back, keep an eye on other openings and keep your CV up to date.
