About the company and the work
Boxer Superstores is a South African retail business that is continuing to grow and expand. The chartered accountant will work closely with the General Manager: Property Finance, providing financial insight to support property investment and development decisions.
Role details and duties
- Prepare and evaluate financial feasibility studies for new store developments, acquisitions and conversions.
- Develop financial models covering return on investment, net present value, internal rate of return, payback periods and sensitivity analysis.
- Prepare, monitor and analyse capital expenditure budgets, identify cost variances and check investment spending.
- Evaluate projected turnover, profitability, operating costs and investment returns to support strategic decisions.
- Analyse actual performance against projected performance, identify trends and provide meaningful insight.
- Prepare financial recommendations, investment evaluations and reports for senior executives and the board.
- Ensure financial models, assumptions and investment recommendations are accurate and commercially sound.
Requirements
- Qualified Chartered Accountant, CA(SA).
- Registered SAICA member in good standing, having successfully completed both board examinations.
- Previous auditing experience.
- Post-qualification financial experience, preferably within a large, listed organisation.
- Strong financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting and analytical capabilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with sound knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles.
- Valid driver’s licence.
Experience that would be an advantage includes property development, property finance, retail property or real estate, investment appraisals and feasibility studies, retail or FMCG or multi-site business environments, and SAP or similar ERP systems and financial dashboards.
