The new consultant will lead its reward-based obedience programme and its behavioural rehabilitation work, delivering measurable results honestly and coaching owners so that progress continues at home. This is not a beginner or obedience-only role.
The consultant will deliver the daycare’s reward-based obedience programme of 10 structured sessions over 10 consecutive weekdays, covering attention, recall, manners and bite inhibition. The role also includes conducting a mandatory one-hour behavioural rehabilitation assessment covering owner history, triggers, safety and measurable baselines, and referring cases that need veterinary input. The consultant will design and deliver individual 10-session day-rehabilitation plans for suitable cases such as fear and anxiety, reactivity, arousal and guarding, identify higher-risk or potentially medical presentations such as serious aggression or bite history and severe panic and refer them to the dog’s veterinarian or a specialist practitioner first, track and report outcomes accurately without promising an unmeasured cure or a guaranteed result, coach owners on safe home practice with written summaries and maintenance plans, and support safe daycare by assessing dog compatibility, controlling introductions, separating unsuitable dogs and following safety, vaccination and welfare protocols with confidential records.
The methods are reward-based and welfare-centred only: positive reinforcement, management, desensitisation, counterconditioning and humane skill-building. No shock, prong or choke devices, painful corrections, intimidation, alpha or dominance methods or flooding are used. This is a non-veterinary post, so it involves no medical diagnosis, treatment or medication advice.
