The Department of Employment and Labour is offering three BCEA Inspector posts in KwaZulu-Natal, with two posts at the Pietermaritzburg Labour Centre and one post at the Estcourt Labour Centre. The salary is R280 278 per annum, and applications close on 13 November 2026 at 16:00 for walk-in applications and 23:59 for online applications.
The Department of Employment and Labour works to promote fair labour practices and to help workplaces comply with South African labour law. Inspectors based at labour centres carry out much of that work in their local areas, visiting workplaces, checking compliance and helping employers and workers understand what the law requires.
These are inspection services posts. In broad terms, the work covers workplace inspections aimed at checking compliance with labour legislation, investigations into reported cases where the law may have been breached, and enforcement action where that is needed. Inspectors also take part in regular proactive inspections, run advocacy campaigns on labour legislation in their allocated areas, and help prepare inspection plans, reports and statistics on allocated cases.
The Pietermaritzburg posts carry reference HR4/4/9/6, and the Estcourt post carries reference HR4/4/9/5. Applicants should quote the reference for the centre they are applying to.

These vacancies appear in DPSA Circular 39 of 2026, in the Employment and Labour section, post 39/16. Apply using the new Z83 form, with an updated comprehensive CV, and quote the correct post title and reference number. The Pietermaritzburg application email shown in the advertisement is [email protected], and the Estcourt application email shown is [email protected]. Use only the details in the official advertisement, and do not pay anyone for an application.
Complete every applicable section of the Z83 form, initial and sign it, and check that the reference number matches the centre you want. Keep a copy of what you submit, and send the application well before the closing time for your chosen method, as walk-in and online closing times differ.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and shortlisted candidates may be asked to submit certified copies of their qualifications and related documents on or before the day of the interview. If you have not been contacted within eight weeks after the closing date, the department’s general note indicates that the application should be regarded as unsuccessful.
This page is informational only. It does not replace the official DPSA advertisement, and it does not guarantee an interview or appointment. Always check the closing date, reference numbers and application instructions in the original PDF before applying.
