Perennial Management Consulting (PMC) is looking for a qualified Ultrasound Sonographer for a full-time role in Gauteng, offering R70 000,00 per month. This is a hands-on clinical imaging role for a sonographer who can carry out accurate diagnostic ultrasound examinations and give patients a calm, professional experience from preparation through to reporting.
About the company and the work
Perennial Management Consulting (PMC) is recruiting for this sonography role within a radiology or healthcare practice setting in Gauteng. The work centres on diagnostic ultrasound: preparing patients, operating imaging equipment safely, capturing clear images for interpretation, and keeping precise examination records. The successful candidate will work closely with radiologists, referring doctors, radiographers and other healthcare professionals, so clear communication and a patient-centred approach matter as much as technical skill.
Role details and duties
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in line with clinical requirements and established imaging protocols.
- Carry out general ultrasound examinations, including obstetric and gynaecological studies where required.
- Perform vascular ultrasound examinations where they fall within the candidate’s competencies and the requirements of the role.
- Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures in a professional, reassuring way.
- Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively to obtain clear, high-quality diagnostic images.
- Assess image quality and make sure the right images are captured for radiological interpretation.
- Maintain accurate patient records, examination details and imaging documentation.
- Collaborate with radiologists, referring doctors, radiographers and other members of the healthcare team.
- Protect patient confidentiality and follow clinical, infection-control and patient safety protocols.
- Handle ultrasound equipment correctly and report any technical concerns when necessary.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centred care throughout the imaging process.
- Take part in continuing professional development and keep up to date with advances in ultrasound technology and diagnostic imaging.
Requirements
- A recognised qualification in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Diagnostic Radiography with relevant ultrasound training, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Current registration with the relevant professional regulatory body, as applicable to the qualification and scope of practice.
- Practical experience performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
- A sound understanding of ultrasound physics, anatomy, pathology and diagnostic imaging techniques.
- Experience in general ultrasound examinations.
- Experience in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound will be advantageous.
- Vascular ultrasound experience will be an added advantage.
- The ability to obtain accurate, high-quality diagnostic images.
- Strong patient-care, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and sound clinical judgement.
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary radiology or healthcare practice.
- A commitment to professional ethics, patient confidentiality and continuing professional development.
The ideal candidate is a qualified sonographer with strong technical skills, a patient-centred approach and a commitment to diagnostic imaging excellence, who is confident performing examinations, communicating with patients and collaborating with radiologists to support accurate diagnostic reporting. Experience across general, obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound will be beneficial, and additional expertise in vascular or specialised ultrasound may strengthen an application.
