Professionals meeting in an office in South Africa

This post appears in DPSA Circular 39 of 2026 as Post 39/25, with reference number EP-CT05/2026. The salary is R413 001 per annum. The closing date is 16 November 2026 at 16:00.

About the company and the work

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is a national government department responsible for the protection, conservation and sustainable use of South Africa’s environment, forests and fisheries. Through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), it also supports work and training opportunities for young people. Training is at the heart of that work: young participants need real skills, properly planned training, and projects that meet EPWP requirements, so that their time on a project leaves them better equipped for work afterwards.

The Training Coordinator sits at the centre of that training work in the province, bringing together project proponents, training plans and the young people on the projects, and making sure training actually happens, is recorded and meets the required standards.

Role details and duties

The successful candidate will coordinate the initiation and planning of Training, Youth Empowerment and Contractor Development Projects, facilitate meetings for sourcing of projects from project proponents, conduct training need analysis of participants in the province, conduct project skills assessment for recommendation of training documents, facilitate the planning of Training, Youth Empowerment and Contractor Development projects, evaluate training plans and facilitate approvals, develop training schedules and monitor their implementation, ensure projects’ EPWP compliance, coordinate submission and evaluation of projects’ monthly reports, coordinate provincial compliance on audit issues for Youth Empowerment and Contractor Development projects, develop a database for EPWP Youth and Contractor Development participants, provide support on the management of stakeholders involved in Youth Empowerment and Contractor Development projects, and provide administrative support. The centre is Cape Town. Enquiries about the post are listed as Mr P Manzini on 072 307 2730, email [email protected].

The advertisement warns that failure to complete or disclose all required information will automatically disqualify the applicant, and that no late applications will be accepted. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications, Senior Certificate, identity document and driver’s licence on or before the day of the interview, and foreign qualifications must have been evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Make sure your diploma, your two years of relevant experience and your driving licence are clearly shown.

How the process works

Correspondence will be limited to successful candidates only. If you have not been contacted within three months after the closing date of the advertisement, please accept that your application was unsuccessful. Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to screening and security vetting to determine their suitability for employment, including criminal records, citizenship status, credit worthiness, previous employment (reference checks) and qualification verification. All shortlisted candidates, including those at senior management service level, will undertake two pre-entry assessments: one will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements, and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment, and selection panels will score both technical exercises as an additional criterion. Persons appointed will be subjected to a security clearance, the signing of a performance agreement and an employment contract. The department reserves the right not to make an appointment.

Important information

This page is informational only. It does not replace the official DPSA advertisement, and it does not guarantee an appointment. The department states that it is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, and that preference may be given to appointable applicants from the underrepresented designated groups in terms of the department’s equity plan, and that persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Always confirm the closing date, reference number and application instructions in the original DPSA document before applying.
