Key responsibilities include designing and analysing structural systems for building and infrastructure projects; preparing structural calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation; developing practical structural concepts and cost-effective construction solutions; coordinating structural designs with architects and other engineering consultants; conducting site inspections and assessing construction quality and compliance; identifying structural risks and resolving technical challenges during design and construction; attending project, design and site meetings; monitoring project deliverables against agreed scope, schedules and budgets; ensuring compliance with applicable SANS standards and building regulations; and providing technical guidance to technicians and draughting staff where required.
Requirements

- BEng or BSc Degree in Civil Engineering, specialising in Structural Engineering.
- At least 3 years of relevant structural design experience within a consulting engineering environment.
- Experience designing reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and timber structures.
- Proficiency in PROKON SUMO and all PROKON design modules.
- Working knowledge of South African building regulations, SANS standards, and relevant engineering codes.
- Ability to interpret and review architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
- Experience conducting site inspections and attending site meetings.
Experience that will be advantageous includes residential, commercial, and industrial developments; knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, or similar drafting and BIM software; and structural assessments, renovations, and remedial works.
