Warehouse worker loading goods

Rebsons Labels is looking for a Storeman to manage its ink stores in Gauteng. This permanent role suits an organised stores professional with stock clerk experience, who can keep precise records and keep a busy labels production floor supplied.

About the company and the work

Rebsons Labels is a labels manufacturer, and this role sits at the heart of its production operation. The Storeman looks after the company’s ink stores, making sure the Digital Department and the printing machines always have the right ink, in the right quantity, at the right time. The work combines hands-on stores duties with careful spreadsheet record-keeping, and the advert also notes a December bonus.

Role details and duties

The duties listed in the original advert are:

  • Take receipt of delivery notes for ink, make copies and update the spreadsheet daily.
  • Issue ink to the Digital Department, FAF and Digicon machines, and manage the controls for issuing ink.
  • Weigh ink bottles before issuing to production and on their return, and adjust the physical stock into the spreadsheet, informing the Consumable Buyer daily.
  • Record ink weight onto the spreadsheet before issuing it to the relevant machine.
  • Ensure the digital department has 8 litres of each colour at the beginning of each shift.
  • Capture all delivery notes into the control spreadsheet, adding stock to the spreadsheet, daily.
  • Mix inks as and when necessary, and adjust the spreadsheet to show which ink was mixed with which.
  • Manage ink stocks based on expiry dates and report on this to the Consumable Buyer.
  • Ensure safe storage of ink daily.
  • Ensure ink is returned after each job for measuring of usage, with adjustments done on the spreadsheet.
  • Issue ink to each machine immediately upon request, with adjustments made on the spreadsheet.
  • Carry out a stock take of all inks correctly each Thursday before 10:00 and submit it to the Consumable Buyer.
  • Carry out the yearly end stock take correctly at the end of February each year and submit it to the Consumable Buyer.
  • Count and weigh each bucket of ink, then place it according to colour and code.
  • Work to ISO methods and procedures and to quality systems and procedures at all times.
  • Be available for and participate in ink stock takes, which take place on the last Friday of the month unless otherwise informed.
  • Take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others working in the department, and record and report any health and safety problems to the supervisor.
  • Act as backup to the plate mounter and die store man.
  • Maintain a good standard of housekeeping in your personal work area at all times.
  • Be flexible to work in other departments when the needs of the business require it.
  • Ensure all company policies and any legislation or controls relevant to your work area are adhered to, support management initiatives, attend required meetings timeously, and maintain a good working relationship between production and all other departments.
  • Check and supervise offloading from suppliers, and execute any other duties you are reasonably asked to undertake.
