Role details and duties

The senior engineer leads design work from first concept to release:

• Lead and take full ownership of product development projects end to end, from concept through detailed design, prototyping and release.
• Own client consulting engagements, assessing customer design workflows, CAD standards and engineering practices.
• Develop and review complex CAD models, drawings, bills of materials and technical documentation, following design standards.
• Apply advanced Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to optimise designs for cost, quality and manufacturability.
• Present recommendations and run technical demonstrations, workshops and training sessions for clients.
• Build and manage relationships with international clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and help build team capability.
• Work independently on complex problems while collaborating with multidisciplinary and international teams.

Requirements

• A BEng in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering (a Master’s degree is a strong advantage).
• Proven experience in mechanical design, product development and engineering consulting — all three are essential.
• A track record of leading and owning design projects from concept to release.
• Strong CAD and design software experience.
• An in-depth understanding of drawings, bills of materials, revision control, manufacturing and design release processes.
• Proven client consulting experience, with the confidence to engage engineering managers and technical teams.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and project delivery skills.

Advantageous: experience with international clients across multiple regions and time zones; experience with PDM, PLM, ERP or engineering data management systems; exposure to FEA, CFD or other simulation tools; and experience with design automation, templates, workflows or engineering process improvement.
