FoodNet SA is looking for a Spaza Channel Sales Representative to grow its fresh produce business across Tshwane. This is a hands-on, on-the-road role for someone who knows township trade well and enjoys building lasting relationships with shop owners.

About the company and the work

FoodNet SA supplies fresh fruit and vegetables from the market to spaza shops, kota shops, bakeries and small retailers. Its Spaza Loop is a truck route that brings fresh stock directly to the shop door, supported by a Stock-Back loyalty programme that rewards shop owners for buying regularly. The role is permanent and based in Mamelodi, Gauteng.

Role details and duties

The representative visits spaza and kota shops on set routes, builds relationships and signs up new customers, explains prices, loyalty rewards and ordering through WhatsApp or the FoodNet app, rides along with the driver on Spaza Loop runs to sell stock from the truck and grow repeat orders, follows up with shop owners on WhatsApp and helps them move up the loyalty tiers, and reports daily on visits, sales and customer requests.

Requirements

• Proven sales experience in the township market, such as spaza, tavern, FMCG van sales, bread, cold drinks or similar trade
• Strong knowledge of the townships around Tshwane and the people who trade there
• Fluent in English plus at least one local language, such as Sepedi, isiZulu, Setswana, Xitsonga or a similar language
• Well presented, confident and reliable
• Comfortable using a smartphone, WhatsApp and simple apps
• Matric preferred, and a valid driver licence is an advantage
• A strong drive to earn, as commission is a large part of the package
