A permanent Registered Nurse opportunity is open in Cape Town, South Africa, through Faircape Health, for a Night Shift Pool nurse to work across three healthcare facilities in the Southern Suburbs. This is a role for an experienced, compassionate nurse who can lead a night shift, keep residents safe and work flexibly where the need is greatest.

About the company and the work

Faircape Health operates leading sub-acute care and long-term care facilities across the Western Cape, providing restorative care and rehabilitation for patients recovering from neurological, orthopaedic and surgical conditions, as well as frail care and respite care. Its care aims to bridge the gap between hospital and home, with a multidisciplinary team delivering care in a therapeutic environment. The pool nurse rotates between Tokai Estate, Cle Du Cap and Noordhoek Manor, based on operational needs.

Role details / duties

• Work as a Registered Nurse on night shift in a pool role across three Faircape Health facilities.
• Develop, implement and regularly review individualised care plans for each resident.
• Monitor staff compliance with care plans and established protocols.
• Conduct high-risk assessments and document essential information accurately.
• Ensure the safe and proper administration of medication, and that medication is stored correctly and blister packs are managed according to procedures.
• Implement and maintain infection control protocols when required.
• Manage stock, including adjusting par levels and restocking the supply cupboard.
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation and effective handovers between night and day shift teams.
• Follow established policies in emergencies, including contacting emergency services where required, and act according to patients’ living wills or advance directives.

Location: Cape Town (Southern Suburbs). Job type: Permanent. Salary: Market Related. Night shifts run from 19h00 to 07h00, with 16.25 shifts per month, Monday to Sunday. Applications close on 25 December 2026, according to the original advert.

Requirements

• Registered as a Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Proven experience as a Shift Leader / Duty Sister.
• Experience in a similar position.
• Proficiency in organising and delivering training sessions for staff development.
• Experience in scheduling and managing staff shifts.
• Willingness and ability to work across multiple healthcare facilities as operationally required.
• Clear health record, clear criminal record and clear credit record.
• Contactable references.
• Flexibility to work between Tokai Estate, Cle Du Cap and Noordhoek Manor as required.

Up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and knowledge of dementia care, frail care and palliative care, will be advantageous.
