A permanent Project Scheduler opportunity is now open in the Cape Town Northern Suburbs, with West Coast Personnel recruiting for an established electrical engineering contractor. The salary is listed as market related, and applications close on 8 November 2026.
About the company and the work
West Coast Personnel is a recruitment specialist that places permanent, temporary and contract staff. In this role, you would support an established electrical engineering contractor, working closely with project managers, engineers and site teams so that project plans reflect what is really happening on site.
The focus is practical planning rather than paperwork alone: turning project requirements into a workable programme, keeping it updated as work progresses, and helping teams stay focused on the activities that drive delivery.
Role details and duties
- Build detailed schedules from project requirements, with clear milestones, dependencies and resource needs.
- Gather progress updates from site teams and subcontractors, assess actual progress and revise forecasts.
- Protect the critical path by identifying the activities that determine completion dates and flagging constraints early.
- Assess the impact of slippage and recommend practical adjustments to help recover progress.
- Produce clear management reports showing what is on track, what is at risk and where decisions are needed.
- Coordinate scheduling inputs so engineering, site and subcontractor activities work to the same deadlines.
- Document baselines, revisions, assumptions and approvals to support project controls and reporting.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of project planning or scheduling experience, preferably in electrical infrastructure, construction or engineering.
- Grade 12.
- Proven ability to build and manage schedules using Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 or similar software.
- A solid understanding of critical path analysis, dependencies, project lifecycles and progress measurement.
- Strong Excel skills and accurate, clear reporting.
- The confidence to question progress updates, highlight risks and communicate effectively with office and site teams.
- A relevant engineering, construction management, project management or planning qualification.
- A valid driver’s licence.
