A hands-on engineering opportunity has opened in Germiston for a plastics processing specialist who thrives on the factory floor. A leading plastics manufacturing organisation, recruiting through Ntice Sourcing Solutions, is seeking an experienced Processing Specialist Engineer in injection moulding to join its operation. This is a permanent, specialist-level role reporting to the Plant Manager, with a straight shift pattern and overtime paid when worked.
About the company and the work
Ntice Sourcing Solutions is a recruitment solutions provider placing professionals across EMEA within all key business functional areas, including IT, Engineering and Technical, Accounting and Finance, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Training and Development, Supply Chain and Procurement, and Production and Operations. Its team is made up of experienced specialist recruiters who are extremely knowledgeable within their chosen fields and who work to match candidates to clients quickly, placing people in companies where they can thrive.
The work itself sits in plastics manufacturing, where the successful candidate will be the technical authority on injection moulding processes. The role is centred on injection moulding, robotics, process optimisation, mould efficiency and production performance, with a strong emphasis on automation integration, advanced process control and continuous improvement. It suits someone who enjoys being close to the machines, solving real production problems and lifting overall equipment effectiveness.
Role details and duties
The advertised duties include optimising injection moulding processes, including setup, cycle-time improvements and process parameter optimisation; managing and optimising moulds to maximise efficiency, performance and longevity; and optimising material handling and processing techniques to improve production efficiency and consistency. The role also covers mould, material and process trials, including new tool trials and process validation, and leading complex mould changeovers with accurate setup, correct clamping and minimal downtime.
Further duties include analysing and adjusting processing parameters such as temperature, pressure and cooling to improve product quality and cycle times; conducting root cause analysis on processing defects and implementing corrective actions to minimise scrap and improve consistency; and working closely with Maintenance on mould and machinery maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment reliability and the mould maintenance programme. The engineer ensures machinery and moulds are effectively maintained, serviced and stored, troubleshoots injection moulding machinery, robotics and automation systems, and attends to breakdowns and call-outs when required.
The role also involves optimising robotic systems and automated production cells, including pick-and-place systems, conveyors and part-handling processes; supporting the integration and troubleshooting of automation controls, PLCs and sensors; working with shift teams, team leaders and setters to optimise production performance, reduce downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness; developing and maintaining standardised setup procedures and process documentation; training and developing machine setters and mentoring junior technical staff; and supporting continuous improvement, research and development and quality initiatives, including cycle-time reduction, scrap minimisation and process reliability, while maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety and compliance with quality procedures.

Practical tips
Before applying, gather concrete examples of injection moulding setups you have optimised, cycle-time reductions you have achieved and scrap problems you have solved through root cause analysis, since those are central to this role. Highlight your In-Mould Labelling and robotics experience prominently, as the advert marks both as essential, and be ready to discuss your work with PLCs, sensors and automated cells. If you have mentored setters or built standard setup procedures, mention that too, because training and documentation are a stated part of the job. Check that your CV clearly shows your mechanical qualification and your plastics processing background.
