Recruitpro Solutions is recruiting a Process Engineer in East Rand for a well-established mineral processing equipment and solutions provider. This permanent, client-facing role covers the full project cycle, from front-end design and simulation to test work, site audits, sales support and commissioning, and applications close on 30 November 2026.
About the company and the work
The role is advertised by Recruitpro Solutions on behalf of a client in the mineral processing equipment and solutions sector. It suits an engineer who enjoys variety: one week may be spent on office-based design and modelling, the next on a test plant or at a client site. You will work across concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, proposals and tenders, and on through to commissioning and performance testing.
Role details and duties
The work spans front-end engineering, simulation, test work, site audits, sales support and commissioning:
- Develop process flowsheets for concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, proposals and tenders.
- Compile mass and water balances from simulations, test work and client plant data.
- Prepare process design criteria, process flow diagrams and equipment lists.
- Size and select equipment across comminution and mineral separation, working with original equipment manufacturer partners.
- Provide technical input to capital and operating cost estimates, performance guarantees and tender submissions.
- Take part in design reviews, hazard and operability studies and risk assessments, and hand designs over to project execution.
- Build and calibrate Aggflow models of crushing and screening circuits, and run scenario and sensitivity analyses on feed variability, throughput and product specification.
- Maintain a controlled library of models, assumptions and equipment data.
- Plan test work programmes, including sampling, test matrices and success criteria, and guide test plant operations with quality control on sample preparation, testing and data capture.
- Interpret test results and issue test work reports with flowsheet and equipment recommendations, and support the evaluation of new technologies and applications.
- Run process audits at client sites, including sampling campaigns, surveys and mass balance reconciliation, and present prioritised recommendations on bottlenecks and losses.
- Support the sales team from opportunity through to order award, preparing technical proposals, process descriptions, datasheets and compliance schedules, and presenting flowsheets and test results to clients.
- Prepare commissioning plans, control philosophies and start-up procedures, support cold and hot commissioning on site, optimise ramp-up to design throughput, and plan and run performance tests with close-out reports.
- Train client operating and metallurgical staff, and share knowledge through technical papers, case studies, conference presentations, internal training, design guidelines and lessons-learnt records.
Requirements
Only what the source advert states:
- A BEng or BSc in Chemical, Metallurgical or Mineral Process Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 5 years of process engineering experience in mineral processing, including front-end or study work.
- Hands-on flowsheet development, mass balancing and equipment sizing across comminution and mineral separation.
- Aggflow or comparable simulation software, such as JKSimMet, Bruno, METSIM or LIMN.
- Experience planning and interpreting metallurgical test work, with exposure to pilot or test plant operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound engineering judgement.
- Excellent technical writing and report compilation skills.
- Confidence presenting to clients, equipment manufacturer partners and internal teams.
- Ability to turn test work and simulation data into practical, commercially sound recommendations.
- Advanced Excel, MS Office, and process flow diagram drafting tools such as Visio or AutoCAD.
- Well organised, able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines, and able to work independently.
- Willing to travel to sites and spend multiple days away from home.
Advantageous: registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist, or working towards it; and plant operations, commissioning or process audit experience.
Where to find and apply safely
Apply only through the original Careers24 advert for this vacancy, using the Apply button on this page. Apply through the original advert, and never share banking details or passwords with anyone asking for payment to process an application.
Practical tips
- Show your flowsheet and mass balance work, and the equipment sizing decisions behind it.
- Highlight your simulation experience, especially Aggflow or comparable modelling tools.
- Give examples of test work programmes you have planned and what the results changed.
- Mention site audit and commissioning experience, including any time spent away on site.
How the process works
Applications are made through the original Careers24 advert. Shortlisting and interviews are handled by the recruiter and the client, and the successful candidate will join the client’s East Rand team on a permanent basis.
