The specialist will work with business users to define the decisions, questions, key performance indicators and reporting needs that each dashboard must support. Day-to-day duties include developing Power BI reports, data models and measures using DAX, Power Query and SQL where appropriate, validating metrics, reconciling results to agreed sources, and documenting calculation rules, assumptions and data limitations. Usability, accessibility, refresh reliability and performance will be improved through user feedback and collaboration with data teams, while report documentation and access controls are maintained and knowledge is shared with business users and support colleagues.
Essential experience and capabilities include a portfolio of Power BI dashboards showing strong visual hierarchy, navigation and practical business use, hands-on Power BI development including DAX, Power Query and sound data modelling principles, and SQL and analytical capability sufficient to interrogate data, validate measures and investigate inconsistent results. Candidates should be able to convert ambiguous stakeholder questions into meaningful key performance indicators, usable reporting and clear data stories, demonstrate dashboard user interface and user experience capability including wireframing, information design and user feedback, and show strong communication skills with evidence that their insights have informed a business decision or operational action.
Preferred experience includes retail reporting across sales, margin, availability, supply chain, digital, loyalty or programme performance, SAP BusinessObjects exposure or experience modernising legacy reports for Power BI, and experience with reporting governance, self-service analytics or a relevant analytics or design qualification.
