Libstar is looking for a Multi-Skilled Operator for a permanent position in Cape Town, with a market-related salary. Applications close on 9 November 2026 according to the original advert. This is a hands-on food production role: you will help run the production line and step into various roles across the production area so that production targets are met.
About the company and the work
Libstar is a food producer whose culture, in its own words, is driven by an enduring passion and commitment to quality food, with teams working collectively in an honest, accountable culture. The Multi-Skilled Operator keeps the line running safely and efficiently — from start-up checks and waste control to quality checks, labelling and pallet building — and is expected to train other operators in the various line functions.
Role details
- Handle and discard waste produced in a safe manner and record it on the necessary reports.
- Complete daily production reports and documentation and submit them to Coordinators, accurately and timeously.
- Handle start-up and shut-down duties for the production line at the beginning of each shift.
- Operate the production line effectively to avoid any accidents, and ensure all orders are produced in full at the required efficiency rates.
- Responsible for product integrity, meeting customer specifications and quality checks of all products.
- Ensure good housekeeping standards, and conduct all start-up checks on equipment before use, taking appropriate action where needed.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems in a timely manner to avoid delays and standby time, and notify Coordinators about equipment and production problems and any deviations.
- Maintain waste within the required targets, and ensure job waste is recorded within the production environment.
- Able to train operators, oveners, de-boxers and scalers.
- Understand and use the TransLution deboxing function and the TransLution scaling function.
- Issue the main mix within the production area, ensure the mixer job is closed, and book reworks when required.
- Ensure packaging is issued and returned when not used, that Box and Lug Labels are printed and pallets are built, and that pallets are put in transit when required.
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements, food safety regulations, allergen control, housekeeping and pest control, and participate in personal hygiene checks.
- Live the brand by living its core values, always striving to do your best.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / NQF Level N4 qualification.
- Thorough understanding of the baking process.
- Thorough understanding of equipment efficiencies.
- Thorough understanding of food safety principles.
