Recru-it · South Africa
Senior Level

Server room with network equipment

If you are a network engineer who enjoys keeping client networks running smoothly, this managed services role with Recru-it in South Africa could be a strong next step. Advertised as a Managed services Network Engineer (L2), it is a permanent, senior-level position focused on second-line support, network security and the day-to-day health of client infrastructure. The listing gives the location only as South Africa, with no specific city stated, so confirm the work base on the original advert before applying.

About the company and the work

Recru-it is a recruitment and talent sourcing specialist with offices in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth and consultants working remotely across the country. It focuses on the full spectrum of positions within IT and related fields. In this role you would work as part of a managed services team looking after clients’ networks, making sure their infrastructure is configured, installed, tested and operating as it should, and that technical incidents are resolved within agreed service levels.

Role details and duties

As a Networking Managed Services Engineer (L2), you would lead in providing managed services to clients, proactively identifying and resolving technical incidents and problems, and ensuring clients meet all service level agreement conditions. You would also provide onsite technical support and field engineering services, and you may have the opportunity to manage and implement projects within the technology domain.

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Proactively monitoring the ticketing queues and resolving incidents and requests in a timely manner and within agreed service levels
  • Updating tickets with the resolution tasks performed, and capturing all required information for immediate resolution
  • Identifying, investigating and analysing issues and errors before or when they occur, and logging them properly
  • Providing second-level support to all incidents and requests, and identifying the root cause of incidents
  • Communicating with other teams and clients to extend support, and leading and managing initial client escalations for operational issues
  • Executing changes with clear identification of risks and mitigation plans captured in the change record, and ensuring all changes carry proper change approvals
  • Following the shift handover process, highlighting key tickets to focus on along with a handover
  • Escalating tickets to seek the right focus from the Centre of Excellence and other teams, and continuing the escalation if needed
  • Working with automation teams to optimise effort and automate routine tasks
  • Coaching Service Desk and L1 teams on technical and behavioural skills
  • Identifying problems and errors before they impact a client’s service
  • Planning and executing approved maintenance activities
  • Auditing and analysing incident and request tickets for quality, and recommending improvements with updates
  • Contributing to or supporting project work as required, and possibly implementing and delivering disaster recovery functions and tests
  • Performing any other related task as required

On the technical side, the role covers assisting with the implementation of IT security measures, documenting systems and network areas, developing network diagrams, evaluating current IT resources and helping to develop security policies, and ensuring systems and networks are secure and operational. It also involves reviewing client network policies and recommending changes, deploying network systems including SD-WAN systems, designing and implementing network infrastructure, and installing, configuring and troubleshooting networking equipment.

Where to find and apply safely

This vacancy is listed on CareerJunction by Recru-it, reference PE011761, posted 29 October 2026 and shown as expiring in 20 days. Use the Apply button on this page, which points to the original CareerJunction advert, and apply through that route only. Be wary of anyone asking for payment to process an application — a genuine recruiter does not charge job seekers for applying.

Practical tips

Lead with your second-line support experience and the vendor platforms you have actually managed — Cisco, Meraki, Aruba and Palo Alto — since the advert names them specifically. Mention your CCNA and Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator status, and your ITIL Foundation certification, early in your application. If you have SD-WAN deployments, incident root-cause work or ticket-queue examples that show work within service levels, include one or two concrete examples. Because the listing location is given only as South Africa, state your location and availability for onsite work clearly in your application.

How the process works

Applying through the original advert sends your application to the recruiter, Recru-it, which screens candidates against the stated requirements. Shortlisted candidates can expect to be contacted about next steps; the advert does not state interview stages or timelines, so keep a copy of the original listing and the reference number PE011761 for follow-up.

Important information

This post is informational only. It summarises a third-party job advert and is not the employer or the recruiter. No salary figure is shown because the advert states the salary as undisclosed. Details such as the exact work base, shift pattern and closing arrangements are as stated on the original advert, which you should check before applying. The full advertised title is “Managed services Network Engineer (L2)”; the shorter title above drops the (L2) marker only. A related L1 vacancy from the same recruiter, “Networking Managed Services Engineer (L1)” in Cape Town, is listed separately on this site — make sure you apply for the level you intend.
