Law books and a gavel on a desk

iOCO is looking for an experienced Labour Law Attorney to take up a Legal Consultant role in Pretoria. This permanent position suits an admitted attorney with solid labour law experience who enjoys advising clients, handling disputes and drafting the legal documents that keep workplaces running fairly and lawfully. Applications close on 28 December 2026, so interested candidates should apply promptly.

About the company and the work

iOCO is a technology consultancy that solves complex real-world problems with innovative software solutions. Its consultants work with knowledgeable teams across industries, and the organisation places a strong emphasis on continuous learning, giving staff the opportunities and tools to keep developing. iOCO describes itself as an equal opportunity employer with its own employment equity objectives. In this role, the successful candidate will act as a functional expert in labour law, advising clients from the company’s head office in Pretoria while also working at client sites, since the working environment is client based and open plan, and travel between client premises and head office is part of the job.

Role details and duties

The Legal Consultant will provide sound labour law advice to clients and handle activities relating to litigation, negotiations, CCMA matters and Labour Court proceedings. The role also involves providing relevant and advanced internal and external legal training, so the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to different audiences is important. Drafting is a core part of the work: legal correspondence, pleadings, opinions and contracts for clients, prepared using sound legal principles. The consultant will attend internal and external meetings and provide legal input where required, and will carry out the administrative duties associated with the role, including responding to matters promptly. Building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships with clients and stakeholders rounds out the position.

Requirements

Applicants must have 5 to 8 years of labour law experience representing parties in disciplinary investigations, collective bargaining matters and related proceedings. Proficient computer skills are required, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), together with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates need specialised knowledge in labour law and sound general legal knowledge, as well as an excellent understanding of applicable legislation, regulations, law in general and corporate governance. On qualifications, the advert asks for a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) and admission as an attorney. A master’s degree in law is optional, and labour law training or courses related to labour law are also listed.

Where to find and apply safely

This vacancy is advertised on Careers24 by iOCO, and the Apply button on this page links directly to that original advert. Apply only through the original listing, and never pay anyone who promises you this job or asks for a fee to secure an interview. Genuine recruiters do not charge job seekers for applications.

Practical tips

Lead with your labour law track record: give concrete examples of disciplinary investigations, collective bargaining matters, CCMA appearances and Labour Court work you have handled, and the outcomes you achieved. Mention your drafting experience across correspondence, pleadings, opinions and contracts, and any legal training you have delivered internally or to clients. Make sure your CV clearly shows your LLB, your admission as an attorney and your years of labour law experience, and list any additional labour law training or courses, since these strengthen an application.
