A hands-on junior operations manager is needed in Cape Town for a six-month temporary contract. The role supports the day-to-day running of a mobile bar, markets and events, with a focus on smooth service, consistent brand standards and strong control over people, stock, cash and equipment.
About the company and the work
The vacancy is advertised by Stevens HR Consuting, acting as an agency. The work is with a growing company in health and wellness that promotes a healthy lifestyle through a mobile bar, an online shop and a community hub. That mix means the job is not tied to one fixed counter: operations move between a mobile bar, markets, events and storage locations, so planning, readiness and follow-through matter as much as service on the day.
Role details and duties
The successful candidate will oversee daily operations across the mobile bar, markets, events and storage sites. Duties include planning and supervising setup, service, cleaning, closing and handovers; coordinating event logistics, equipment, stock and approved vendors so each site is ready on time; and leading staff through rosters, attendance control, induction, on-the-job training, coaching and fair supervision. The role also covers approved promotions, partnerships and sales opportunities, with reporting on performance. On the commercial side, the manager will oversee stock movements, counts, wastage and expiry dates, as well as cash-ups, payment devices, refunds and transaction controls. Accurate operational records and weekly reports covering sales, stock, cash, staffing, complaints, incidents and improvement actions are part of the job, along with food-safety, hygiene, occupational health and safety, confidentiality and information-protection procedures, escalating risks and incidents promptly.
