Datonomy Solutions is recruiting an Intermediate Test Analyst, reference 897, for a contract, onsite role in Cape Town. The analyst will design and run manual tests and help build automated regression coverage within an established delivery team.

The analyst will work with a Senior Test Analyst, Test Manager or QA lead, developers, business analysts and business users.

Role details and duties

• Review requirements and acceptance criteria with analysts and developers, and raise missing or unclear scenarios.
• Prepare test cases, test data and expected results for functional and regression coverage.
• Execute manual tests, record results accurately and identify differences between expected and actual outcomes.
• Create, extend and maintain automated tests using the team’s agreed framework and review process.
• Log reproducible defects with supporting evidence, verify fixes and run impact-related regression testing.
• Use basic SQL queries or API tools where relevant to validate data and integration behaviour.
• Maintain test records, communicate blockers early and take part in peer reviews and continuous improvement.

This is a contract, intermediate-level position in Cape Town, with a stated pay range of R60,000 to R70,000 per month.

Requirements

• Hands-on software testing experience, with the ability to execute an assigned scope independently.
• Practical manual testing skills across functional, regression and exploratory testing.
• Practical automation experience, including writing or maintaining tests rather than only running existing ones.
• Ability to work with the scripting or programming basics needed for the selected framework.
• Clear defect reporting, test documentation and communication of progress, risks and blockers.
• Ability to understand business workflows, follow agreed standards and incorporate technical feedback.
• Retail, ecommerce, payments, point of sale or supply chain application exposure is preferred.
• Basic SQL, API testing and source control experience, with willingness to deepen technical capability, is preferred.
• ISTQB Foundation certification or equivalent learning supported by practical testing work is preferred.
