Warehouse shelves with boxes and stock

A permanent Goods Receiving Clerk opportunity is open in Parow, South Africa, with Boxes For Africa, a division of Caxton & CTP Publishers and Printers Limited. This is a hands-on role for an organised, detail-focused person who wants to keep incoming stock accurate, safe and ready for production.

About the company and the work

Boxes For Africa works in corrugated packaging and related manufacturing. In Parow, the receiving function is the first quality and accuracy check for everything that arrives on site. When deliveries are checked carefully, production can plan with confidence, stock records stay reliable, and shortages or damage are spotted early rather than discovered later on the line.

The role sits at the meeting point of suppliers, stores, production and finance. It suits someone who is methodical, comfortable with paperwork and systems, and happy to work both independently and with colleagues across departments.

Role details / duties

  • Receive and verify incoming raw materials, consumables and other deliveries against approved purchase orders.
  • Inspect deliveries for visible damage, defects, incorrect specifications, shortages and excess quantities.
  • Verify material descriptions, dimensions, quantities and quality requirements using appropriate measuring tools.
  • Keep all receiving documentation accurate, complete and properly maintained.
  • Support raw material stock counts, reconciliations and investigations into stock variances.
  • Make sure raw materials issued to production are correctly identified, measured, documented and stored.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, Production, Quality and Despatch staff to resolve stock and delivery queries.
  • Operate a forklift safely to offload, move and position materials where required.
  • Follow company policies, standard operating procedures, quality requirements and health and safety rules.

Location: Parow. Job type: Permanent. Salary: Market Related. Applications close on 6 November 2026, according to the original advert.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in goods receiving, warehousing, stock control or inventory management.
  • A valid forklift licence.
  • Good understanding of receiving procedures, purchase orders, supplier delivery notes and stock records.
  • Strong numerical, administrative and record-keeping skills.
  • Basic computer literacy, including capturing and maintaining accurate stock records.
  • Ability to inspect, measure and verify materials accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or corrugated packaging environment will be advantageous.

Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply, and accommodation during the application process is mentioned in the original advert.

Where to find / apply safely

Apply only through the original Careers24 advert linked by the Apply button on this page. Use the official application route shown there, and do not pay anyone to apply, to secure an interview or to be shortlisted. A genuine employer will not ask you for a fee for a job application.

Practical tips

  • Highlight receiving, stock control and forklift experience clearly at the top of your CV.
  • Give short, concrete examples, such as checking deliveries against orders and resolving a shortage.
  • Check that your forklift licence details are current and easy to find.
  • Keep your contact details up to date so the recruiter can reach you quickly.
  • Read the closing date and apply well before it, rather than on the last day.

How the process works

After you apply through the original advert, the employer or recruiter reviews applications and contacts shortlisted candidates. If you are not contacted, it generally means your application was not shortlisted for this round. Keep a copy of what you submitted, and be ready to discuss your receiving and stock experience if you are called.
