About the company and the work
Virgin Active is a well-known health club group, and its Fitness Instructors are the friendly faces members meet on the gym floor. The instructor promotes existing and new fitness initiatives, products and services to members, builds relationships that keep members coming back, and helps create the energetic, welcoming atmosphere the clubs are known for. This is a full-time, 45-hour-per-week position.
Role details and duties
The Fitness Instructor will do their bit towards achieving the purpose of inspiring people to live an active life, living the company’s values in everything they do. Duties include building relationships with members to achieve member retention, conducting fitness initiatives to increase member retention, adhering to operational and administrative requirements, ensuring the health and safety of members at all times, actively managing ongoing training and self-development to keep abreast of industry changes, and actively assisting and promoting the ancillary products and services available to members.
Requirements
Applicants must have a Matric qualification, an industry-recognised fitness qualification (essential), and a minimum of 6 months of experience within fitness. A First Aid qualification with AED certification is required, as is the ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays. Experience in member service (customer service) is required, and candidates must be people’s persons who can assist and guide members.
