Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited has an opening in Midrand for a Finance Platforms Lead. Reporting to the Core Platforms Tribe Lead, this role owns the health, delivery and performance of the group’s finance platforms, keeping them reliable, compliant and properly integrated with the rest of the business. Applications close on 31 December 2026.
About the company and the work
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is one of South Africa’s leading pharmacy and healthcare retailers, and its finance platforms sit at the centre of how the group records, controls and reports money. The Finance Platforms Lead oversees those platforms, leading a cross-functional squad that manages configuration, integration, enhancement and operation of finance capabilities including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, asset accounting, financial controls, statutory reporting and integrations. Working with Product Owners, Finance leadership, Audit and Risk teams, the lead turns Core Platforms Tribe roadmap priorities into an actionable backlog, delivering consistently while maintaining financial accuracy, audit integrity and platform stability. The role is essential to keeping Finance platforms reliable, compliant and properly integrated with Retail, Supply Chain, point-of-sale and Integration platforms.
Role details and duties
On platform ownership and roadmap, the lead owns execution of the finance platform roadmap within the Core Platforms Tribe; shapes priorities, dependencies and sequencing with the Tribe Lead and Product Owners; ensures finance platforms remain trusted systems of record for financial processing and controls; and drives standardisation of finance processes and configuration across the organisation.
On delivery and operations, the lead heads the finance platform squad delivering configuration, enhancements and integrations; ensures stable day-to-day operation of finance systems, including period-end and audit-critical processes; owns release planning, testing, cut over and production support; and proactively manages incidents, root-cause analysis and prevention of repeat failures.
On governance and collaboration, the lead ensures finance platform changes comply with enterprise architecture, integration standards and security requirements; coordinates closely with Integration, Audit, Risk and Data teams; manages finance platform vendor delivery within tribe-level governance frameworks; and escalates architectural, control, capacity or priority trade-offs as required.
The role is measured on the availability and operational stability of finance platforms; the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial processing and reporting; on-time delivery of finance platform enhancements and regulatory changes; reduction in finance-related incidents and control failures; satisfaction of Finance, Audit and Risk stakeholders; and contribution to culture, accountability, engagement and continuous improvement. Working in an Agile, squad-based way, the lead operates with clear platform ownership and accountability, promotes transparency, quality and continuous improvement across squads, and balances delivery velocity with financial control and enterprise governance discipline.
