Drupal CMS Developer Jobs in Fairlands

Falcorp Resourcing · Fairlands
Senior Level

Developer working on a website content platform

A new opening in Fairlands is calling for a Drupal CMS Developer to take charge of enterprise content platforms. Falcorp Resourcing is recruiting for this fixed-term, full-time role, and it suits a developer who enjoys turning complex content needs into fast, secure and well-organised websites.

About the company and the work

Falcorp Resourcing places technology professionals with clients across South Africa. In this role, you will work on enterprise-grade content management systems and decoupled digital platforms, sitting at the meeting point of backend PHP development, API design and digital delivery. The focus is on building custom modules, shaping content structures and keeping platform performance high.

Role details and duties

  • Architect, develop and maintain secure, high-traffic enterprise Drupal (v9/v10+) web applications and content architectures.
  • Design and build custom Drupal modules using object-oriented PHP and standard Drupal APIs to meet complex business requirements.
  • Develop and manage RESTful APIs, JSON:API and GraphQL endpoints that support decoupled or headless architectures and third-party integrations.
  • Model complex content types, taxonomy hierarchies, custom entity schemas and user role and permission structures.
  • Work closely with front-end engineers to integrate Twig templates, component libraries and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Carry out performance tuning and caching using Varnish, Redis or Memcached, database indexing and Drupal core render caching.
  • Own code quality and security standards, run code reviews, apply OWASP security hardening and manage regular Drupal security patch cycles.
  • Take part in Agile ceremonies, giving precise technical estimates, story point sizing and clear execution plans during sprint planning.
  • Maintain local and cloud environments with containerised setups such as Docker, Ddev and Lando, and automate deployments through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Drive database and configuration synchronisation across development, staging and production using Drupal’s Configuration Management System.

Requirements

  • A National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of commercial experience as a dedicated Drupal Developer on enterprise-scale digital platforms.
  • Acquia Certified Developer (Drupal 9/10) or Acquia Certified Back-End Specialist certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience in IT consulting, telecommunications or media will be an advantage.
  • Expert knowledge of PHP (8.x), Drupal core architecture, Symfony components, Composer dependency management and Drush.
  • Advanced proficiency in database design, querying and optimisation with MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL.
  • Hands-on experience building decoupled or headless implementations and consuming APIs with modern front-end frameworks such as Next.js and React.
  • A solid grasp of Git-based version control, automated testing frameworks such as PHPUnit and Behat, and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
  • Advanced proficiency with enterprise tracking tools, specifically Jira and Confluence.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to explain technical CMS constraints clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Where to find and apply safely

This vacancy is advertised by Falcorp Resourcing on PNet. Use the Apply button on this page to reach the original advert, and submit your application only through that official listing. A genuine recruiter will never ask you to pay a fee to apply or to secure an interview.

Practical tips

  • Highlight enterprise Drupal projects, especially high-traffic sites and decoupled builds.
  • Mention your Acquia certification if you hold one, and name the Drupal versions you have worked with.
  • Be ready to talk through a module you built, a caching problem you solved and a security patch cycle you managed.
  • Keep your CV focused on PHP, Drupal core, APIs and the front-end frameworks you have integrated with.

How the process works

After you apply through the original PNet advert, the recruiter reviews applications against the requirements above. Shortlisted candidates are usually contacted for further screening and interviews, where your Drupal experience, technical depth and communication skills will be explored in more detail.
