The Government Printing Works is looking for an Artisan Foreman Grade A for Rubber Stamp Making in Pretoria. This is a specialist production role where design, materials and careful finishing decide whether a stamp is accurate and fit for use.
The Government Printing Works produces secure and commercial printed material for government, including rubber stamps. Stamp making combines design work with hands-on production: text, graphics and artwork are prepared, materials are exposed, and the finished stamp must meet the client’s or internal requirements. The section must run safely and efficiently, with machines and tools kept in good working order.
The foreman will design stamps, operate stamp equipment, and oversee and maintain the manufacturing process for rubber stamps so production output stays effective. The role includes confirming client or internal requirements and specifications so stamps are accurate and fit for purpose, developing and amending rubber stamp designs using appropriate design software or approved manual methods, and preparing text, graphics and artwork for exposure onto stamp-making materials, including polymer or rubber plates. Supervising the team, keeping stamp-making machinery and related equipment running continuously, safely and efficiently, monitoring equipment performance, coordinating repairs or technical support, and implementing quality assurance so rubber stamps meet the required standards are also part of the work, along with recommending process improvements, routine machine maintenance, record-keeping, and safety, health, environment, risk and quality work.
