An experienced Assistant Finance Manager is needed for a manufacturing company in Germiston. This permanent role, placed by Talent Evolution, will oversee day-to-day accounting operations — including debtors and creditors — while keeping financial records accurate and complete. Applications close on December 27, 2026.
About the company and the work
Talent Evolution is a provider of talent management services that helps clients build stronger organisations. In this role you would support the Financial Manager of a manufacturing business, supervising finance staff and making sure that reporting, internal controls and statutory obligations are completed accurately and within the required deadlines.
The role covers the full finance cycle, from daily transaction processing through month-end and year-end, and includes working with external auditors. It suits a detail-driven accountant who is comfortable owning the numbers while leading a small team.
Role details and duties
As Assistant Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accurate, complete and up-to-date accounting records.
- Processing and reviewing journals, accruals, provisions, prepayments and other month-end adjustments.
- Performing and reviewing general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Ensuring financial procedures and internal controls are consistently applied, and reporting risks, errors and control weaknesses to the Financial Manager.
- Overseeing and managing the full debtors and creditors control functions, and supervising debtors and creditors staff.
- Monitoring outstanding balances, reconciliations and control accounts, and keeping supporting documentation in order.
- Checking and verifying outgoing payment batches before submission for authorisation, and reviewing cashbooks processed by the finance department.
- Monitoring bank balances and providing accurate financial information to support cash-flow planning.
- Ensuring all month-end transactions and adjustments are processed accurately and on time, and preparing monthly management accounts for review by the Financial Manager.
- Investigating variances and providing supporting financial information as required.
- Preparing and submitting applicable statutory returns within prescribed deadlines, and liaising with SARS and other statutory authorities when required.
- Liaising with external auditors during annual audits, preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation, and assisting with year-end financial reporting.
- Supervising, supporting and managing debtors and creditors staff, allocating work and monitoring performance, deadlines and quality standards.
- Maintaining the confidentiality and security of financial information.

- Effective leadership and staff management, strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High levels of integrity, honesty and confidentiality, and a proactive, accountable and solutions-oriented approach.
