Introduction
Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Artisan Rigger to be placed in Palabora Sinking Project near Phalaborwa, Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Foreman Engineering. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
Engineering installations are constructed according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications
Plan and execute a rigging equipment maintenance schedule according to OEM specifications and company standards
Identify coil and inspect ropes
Maintain winder ropes, attachments, sheave wheels/ conveyors, and assist with shaft slinging
Engineering equipment is repaired according to agreed standards and schedules
Compliance with SHEQ, M&RC and client standards, policies and procedures
Perform mini risk assessment prior to commencing work
Plan the job in terms of standards and required resources and draw up a schedule to guide the execution thereof
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent
Section 26 Rigger/Ropes man Trade Certificate / MIETTB Trade Certificate through a registered body
Valid Code EB driver’s license
Valid First Aid certificate
Ability to work at Heights
Muscular strength to do rope splicing
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
10 year’s mining industry experience (underground and surface)
10 year’s trade experience as a Rigger / Ropesman
