Minimum Qualifications /Experience
Grade 12/NQF Level 3
Valid Blasting Certificate
Gas testing certificate
Competent A certificate
Experience in conventional and mechanized mining
5 years’ experience as a Miner (With at least 2 years board and pillar experience) – trackless mining
General knowledge of underground operations
Ability to meet production targets, read drill plans and achieve accurate drilling with minimal supervision
An eye for detail and quality work
Positive and team-focused
Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act
Medically Fit (determined by OMP)
Duties and responsibilities
Coordinate the drill and blast function to ensure blasted stocks are maintained to achieve mining rates within budget, monitor blasting activities, analyse results, and submit recommendations to achieve the desired fragmentation
Adhere to all organisation policies and operating procedures
Conduct underground Pre-shift inspections
Manage the planning, leading, organisation and control of the production in a mining section and to comply with the company’s SHE Systems
Manage the health and safety of employees, material, and discipline
Focus on safe quality of work, achieving of production targets, housekeeping, supervise and coordinate support functions
Maintain accurate data/records/documentation
Ensure compliance with MHSA and all related legal/statutory regulations, policies and procedures, codes, professional duties, responsibilities and obligations
Maintain good relationships with all stakeholders (Service providers, customers, and support functions)
Applicant must be a South African citizen. Candidates coming from the Mawewe, Matsamo and Lugedlane communities will be given first preference. Upon selection process, potential candidates will be required to provide stamped proof of residence from their respective Tribal Office.
The candidates must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Company standards for medical fitness.
