Data Science & Analytics
(2 Year fixed term contract)
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Graduate in Training: Data Science & Analytics (DSA) to join the DSA Department at Tygervalley.
The ideal candidate must have excellent theoretical and technical knowledge, be highly analytical and a problem-solver. Candidates must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and the desire to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies
BSc/BCom Degree in Computer Science / Statistics / Mathematics / Data Analytics / Actuarial Science or another related field
Postgraduate Degree / Diploma (Preferred)
Proficient in SQL and widely used analytics tools such as Python, R, SAS,…
Driver’s license (Essential)
Own Vehicle (Preferred)
Willing and fast learner, with a self-driven attitude
The candidate must be medically fit in terms the Mine Health and Safety Act
Based in Cape Town
Willing to travel to the Afrimat Mines

The successful person will
Analyze business needs and design analytical solutions to the gaps identified
Interpreting data to create visualizations that help identify trends or patterns in data
Identifying opportunities to apply new technologies to improve existing processes or procedures
Communicating with stakeholders to gain a better understanding of their needs and goals
Providing recommendations based on research findings and data analysis
Recommending improvements to existing predictive models or creating new models from scratch
